1) Yes clearly Betty is not okay
1.5) And it is sad that she feels she has no other outlet
2) but she’s not 15, they seem to be juniors and she can drive so she’s 16 or 17, that’s age of consent depending on state
3) it kinda sounds like this is predicated on the assumption that sex work is bad or shameful
4) it also kinda frames Chick as a predator (stereotype of gay men) or pimp (he’s just not)
It sucks if sex work is anyone’s only option, but being forced into any job is shitty.
When Betty asks why Chick webcams, he says partially for money and partially it’s an escape that he likes. Even after he’s in a safer environment (no abusive landlord, parents providing for him so he doesn’t immediately need income), he still wants to do it. So yes, both of them would benefit from mental healthcare, but you’re falling down the Hal trap if you’re upset about it just as a concept. Chick chooses to, because he gets personal satisfaction from it—need for sense of control, desire to disassociate from yourself, etc. are certainly symptoms of underlying problems, but it seems like now that Chick is no longer forced to work when he doesn’t want to, it’s a relatively okay situation.
She also asked him to show her how he does it—it wasn’t his idea for her to do it. We never see her pressure her, only give her safety recommendations

Ok, but in Carrie’s book, she definitely mentions more than one occasion when Mark showed up unannounced at Harrison’s early in the morning when Carrie was just there and they were clearly not having a breakfast hang out and Mark was just like “hey guys let’s hang”, and also Mark followed their car while they were making out and honked at them and was like “oh hey wow, we’re all heading to the same place! let’s all go eat together!”
